The legendary ride of steel: that’s what our Quest series is all about. There is an allure to steel that transcends its traditional artisan appeal. And that’s its ride quality. “Stiff but buttery smooth” is the phrase most often used to express that quality. It’s the benchmark against which all other frame materials have always been measured. The Quest Elite features a fast-shifting Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain, a carbon fork, and high-quality Ritchey components.

The Jamis Quest Elite is like the Classic Schwinn LeTour on Steroids. The quality steel frame along with modern 105 components make this the most magnificent of bikes. Back when "Steel was King" you could purchase a quality road bike that soaked up the cracks and bumps of the road without even knowing how good it was. Now with every Local Bike Shop pushing Aluminum Frames people don't understand the buttery smooth ride that steel offers, In Fact; most people think steel is just an oddity that's too heavy. If you ride in Minneapolis (The number one bike city in the country) steel bikes that are 20 to 30 years old rule the roads and trails. Mark my words; Steel will Rule Again and Aluminum along with the "Dead" Ride of Carbon Fiber will fall to the wayside.
Like the headline says - this is an excellent bike. I think it is fair to describe it as stable and comfortable yet quick and sporty. It is steel AND relatively lightweight. The site road.cc (to which I have no affiliation) gives a well-written review (of the '12 model) that's worth reading. I'm a novice road rider but I wanted to get something mid-range as this might be the only road bike I ever purchase. Most people will probably end up replacing the saddle (although it isn't that bad) but that seems to be standard fair. Everyone is different but I am definitely happy with this choice. It's a fun and freeing ride. Find it on spring sale or, better yet, fall closeout, and it's also a great deal.
